Music Portal

The music portal is not yet fully completed – both in terms of the database and from a technical standpoint. Therefore, do not be surprised if you can’t find certain releases yet. I think I will be able to finish the project by the end of this summer. I hope you can understand why I wanted to launch this site just in time for the festival season 😉

The focus on this portal is on the faster end of psytrance music. That’s why every release on it will have at least one song with 160 BPM or more.

The music on this website is divided in three genres: Darkpsy, Hitech and Psycore.

Darkpsy is typically characterized by a dark, obscure soundscape, it often contains distortions and horror elements.

Hitech (also Hi-Tech or High-Tech), is defined by technical sounds, futuristic atmosphere, clean bass line and sometimes happy melodies.

Psycore is designed to be intense and overwhelming, pushing the limits of sensory stimulation. This is achieved through chaotic and high-energy rhythms.

There are no “official” definitions for Darkpsy and Psycore, making it hard to distinguish between them, especially since both genres incorporate darker elements. Typically, tracks between 190 and 200 BPM are labeled as both Darkpsy and Psycore, while those above 200 BPM are generally categorized as Psycore, and those up to 190 BPM as Darkpsy.

The assignment of releases to genres was done by me – not by some AI – and it was a lot of work.
Of course this may not capture the full complexity of music genres.

I differentiate genres like Darkpsy and Hitech based on sound characteristics, although the boundaries can overlap.
Artists can contact me to correct or remove genres from their releases, which might affect search visibility.

This approach is not intended to restrict music, but rather to help users find the music they are looking for.
Corrections to improve database accuracy are welcome.
